WORLD'S BEST PHOTOS


This photo is from an album of National Geographic called Deadly Instinct, it shows us a caterpillar devouring his prey. Is really striking and unusual too because normally we think caterpillars are the preys but in this case not. This two insects are in a green leaf where we can suppose the caterpillar was camouflaged. It seems the fly was resting quietly in this plant when suddenly this predator jumped into hiss back to stab it with his deadly fangs. Thanks to the powerful camera the photographer used we can appreciate every single detail of this picture : the difference between  the colors of the fly and the landscape ( that probably put the fly into a defenseless position ), the hideous posture of the fly's corpse, the mighty legs of the caterpillar penetrating into his prey ... This unusual king of caterpillars live in Australia, and they evolved from simple preys to professional killers. I've found a National Geographic video about this spice that could be interesting:
