#shakespeare400

William shakespeare was born in 1564, he has been one of the most important dramaturgs ever thanks to his popular plays: Romeo and Juliet, Hamelet ... Today we are celebrating his 400 death aniversary, that's why the 23rd April will be an important day, and that's why we are studing his life and his plays right now. 

#stratford-upon-avon

This was the place where he was born and he spent his childhood. We can ubicate it in the center of England, it is a paceful village at the north of London. Now it's famous just because Shakespeare lived there, people go there to visit his house and his properties.


#annehathway

Anne Hathway was the wife of Shakespeare, they were married when he was 18 and she was 26. They had 3 kids : 2 girls and 1 boy. Susanna was the oldest, and Hamnet and Judith, the youngers, were twins. Hamnet however died when he was only 11.

#theglobe

The Globe Teatre was a teathre in London built in 1599 by Shakespeare's playing company. It was destroyed once on 29 June 1613, and the same teather was built one year later and closed on 1642. The modern reconstruction of the Globe is named "Shakespeare's Globe", opened in 1997.


#plays

William Shakespeare wrote more than 35 plays in his life. Maybe not all are famous, because they are not like Romeo and Juliet or Hamlet but the thing is he wrote them. Most of his works are comedies, but he wrote some tragedies and histories too. Actually Romeo and Juliet and Hamlet are tragedies.

#plague

Since 1592 to 1594 London's theaters had to close because it was dangerous for many people to be together in a small place. In this time Shakespeare wrote poetry, and began his sonnets.  

#queeneliazbeth

During Queen's Elizabeth reign there was a lot of activity in all the arts: architecture, painting, music and poetry. In drama the activity was extraordinary, there were many good playwrights writing nice plays, but Shakespeare was the best, he was known everywhere in the world.



#thearmada

This was the name of the army Philip II of Spain sent to England in 1588. It failed because of the bad weather and the tactics of the smaller English ships, more than 11.000 Spanish soldiers were killed.

"To be, or not to be: that is the question." This is probably the most famous quote of Shakespeare, it is from Hamlet, but isn't the only one he wrote.
